Pre-trip Maintenance Inspections

Vector Fleet Management implements detailed management plans for every aspect of Pre-trip Maintenance programs.

Pretrip maintenance inspections are an important part of any vehicles upkeep. Performing these inspections ensures the safety and reliability of a vehicle on the road. They allow for preventative maintenance to be conducted before a trip. By examining the necessity of pre-trip maintenance inspections, identifying the components that need inspection, and understanding why such checks are beneficial, we can make our lives easier.

The importance of pretrip maintenance inspections cannot be overstated. As well as identifying potential problems during a trip, they also help to identify which ones may arise. Additionally, pretrip maintenance inspections can help to identify any potential safety issues that may be present in the vehicle, such as worn tires or faulty brakes.

When performing a pretrip maintenance inspection, there are several components that should be inspected. These include the vehicles tires, brakes, lights, fluid levels, and hoses. The mechanic should check for wear and tear and inflate the tires properly. Make sure the brakes are working properly and that they don’t show signs of wear. Check the lights to make sure they are working correctly. The fluid levels should be checked to ensure that they are at the proper levels. Finally, it’s important to look for damage or wear on the hoses.

Vector Fleet Management acts as a catalyst for the advancement of operator and driver contributions to fleet maintenance and safety. The example of how our programs incorporate accountability into your fleet activity is provided below.

Pre-trip maintenance inspection checks improve security and increase uptime. Not to mention that they must comply with regulations. Upon receiving calibrated air gauges, our employees instruct drivers and operators to do the following:

THE SIX STEPS OF TIRE PRE-TRIP MAINTENANCE INSPECTIONS:

  1. Check your tires for proper inflation. If its PSI falls 20% below its targeted level, replace the tire. Also, dual tires should be within 10 PSIs of each other.
  2. It is important that you secure your valve caps properly.
  3. Look for tread wear and check proper tread depth.
  4. Check for tire cuts or bulges in the sidewall.
  5. Check wheel and lug nut conditions. Make sure there is no rust or bends.
  6. Inspect suspension components.

These tried-and-true methods will reduce fleet downtime and tire replacement cost.  Free Fleet Maintenance Cost Analysis.
